Where We Came From

Christie and Walther Communications Limited was established in 1962 by Ken Christie and Rolf Walther, primarily to provide service to various types of electronic devices, then later added the sale and rental of Motorola Two-way radios, multiple radio repeaters and antenna sites throughout Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec.

Christie and Walther has established itself as one of the premier communication companies in North America, and regularly supplies communications for major political and sporting events, such as the APEC conference, the World Series and the Super Bowl.

·       1978 Metrolert Ltd. was established in Ottawa to expand our service offering into paging. Metrolert acquired V.I.P. Answering Service in 1985, and diversified into voice and fax mail services.

·       1983, Canpage Communications Ltd. was formed to provide paging, bilingual telephone answering, alarm monitoring and 911 fire emergency dispatch services through its offices in Cornwall and Brockville, Ontario, and expanded to provide blended call center solutions such as help desk, order entry and customer relationship management.

·       1991, Tordiff Communication Ltd. was purchased, and extend coverage Two-way radio clients along Highway 401 with sales/service locations in Kingston, Brockville and Cornwall.

·       1991, Metrolert Ltd. purchased Petit Page, established in 1976. Petit Page had a long history of handling virtually all paging, telephone answering service, voice mail sales and service in the Outaouais region.

·       1995, Metrolert Ltd. purchased the customer base of Agora Telecom (formerly Time Answering Service).

·       2000, Metrolert Ltd. purchased the Eastern Ontario / Western Quebec paging operation of Interpage Communications Inc. (formerly Time Paging) extending paging coverage throughout Eastern Ontario, and most major populated areas of Quebec.

·       2002, the Christie and Walther became an authorized dealer of Samsung Telephone Systems for Ottawa, Ontario and Outaouais, Quebec.

·       2002, Action RF’s Two Way Radio Division was purchased to complement Christie and Walther’s systems and offered the largest Radio Trunking Network in Eastern Ontario.

·       October 2002, the Christie and Walther purchased a portion of Storm Internet Services to provide high speed wireless internet.

.    May 2005, Christie and Walther Communications purhased the Two-way radio business from Alliance Wireless in Kingston, to increase their service offering.

·      In September 2005, Christie and Walther amalgamated services in Cornwall Ontario, to offer our Customer our suite of products in one convenient location

·      In October 2007, Christie and Walther moved its Downtown Ottawa Call Centre to the Head Office in Ottawa, and enabled our customers to have on site technical support for their Call Centre Needs.

Christie and Walther has established itself as one of the premier communication companies in North America, and regularly supplies communications for major political and sporting events, such as the APEC conference, the World Series and the Super Bowl.

 Where we are now

In 2006, Christie and Walther took a long hard look at itself and the way it did business.  It was a diverse group of six brands and five product lines.  To be able to continue to offer our customers the level of quality of products and services they expected from Christie and Walther, and do so in a sustainable fashion, it became clear we needed to consolidate and update our approach to our business.

The new Christie and Walther Brand launched in June of 2006, and since that time we have streamlined and simplified our product delivery to our customers and presented ourselves as a single cohesive identity, offering our full range of products and services as well as identifying new offerings.
